How Ask Hopkins works

Ask Hopkins is a free public tax-research tool from Hopkins CPA Firm P.C. in Corpus Christi, Texas.

1. You ask a question. Anything about federal taxes or Texas franchise / sales & use tax.
2. We search real sources. The system retrieves passages from a library of official IRS Publications (public domain) and firm-authored research memos — nothing else.
3. AI writes a grounded answer. A Claude model (Anthropic) answers only from those passages. Every quotation is extracted verbatim from the source document by the citation system, so quotes cannot be made up.
4. A human gates the library. New Q&As appear in the public library only after review. You get your answer immediately at a private link either way.

What it is not

It is not tax advice, not a substitute for a CPA who knows your facts, and it does not create a client relationship. Numbers and rules change — the OBBBA (P.L. 119-21, July 2025) rewrote large parts of the tax code, and answers state which tax year they assume.
